June update

Here's Junes update on what's new and improved this month. All comments and feedback are welcomed and encouraged.

CAPTCHA Update

June update

We have upgraded all website forms to the latest version of Google CAPTCHA. Most people will recognise CAPTCHA as the 'I'm not a robot' check box. The new version uses sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI) methods to identify visitors likely to be spam. Visitors will no longer be presented with the 'I'm not a robot' challenge. You can adjust the sensitivity of the spam protection in your site's general settings, however, in most cases, the default setting should be ok.

This change is applied to all your website's forms including the webshop customer account creation process.

Remember me

Webfactory Hub beta only
We've added a 'remember me' tick box at login which when ticked will keep you logged into the Hub for a longer period of time. Previously the login would last until your closed all your browser windows or after a period of inactivity. This would typically be after a few hours. When using the 'remember me' option, you will not be logged out until you specifically use the logout button or after a significantly longer period of inactivity, days rather than hours. You can also manage logged-in sessions within your user profile, or if you are an admin user, manage the sessions of others within their user account page. For example, you can force logout a user or device.

Coming soon - product filters

Webfactory Hub beta only
We're working on implementing product filter menus for ecommerce websites. Presently products are organised within product departments or displayed by means of a search. With product filters, you can add a menu to your site which can be used to filter the product list by product specifications. For example, you might have a department of t-shirts, with product filters you could add a menu so your visitor could filter to show only red t-shirts with sizes small and medium. We expect this feature to be launched in the next month or two.

Coming soon - Message Centre

Webfactory Hub beta only
We're working on a centralised page within the Hub where you can view and manage submissions for your website's forms. You can think of it as a type of inbox for anything which is sent from your forms. Currently, when a form is submitted an email is sent to a nominated email address. With the Message Centre, you will be able to opt for this not to happen and manage everything in one place. This will remove the opportunity for any messages to be lost in delivery to your email inbox and also avoids transmitting data over email, which is less secure than keeping everything within the system.

Sorting of products

Webfactory Hub beta only
We've improved the product lists within the Hub. You can now manage the sort order of your products so for example you can sort by newest product, product price, name etc.

Coming soon - Feedback Centre

Webfactory Hub beta only
We are working on a new way to submit your feedback after the design work has been completed. currently, once we sent work to you for review, the feedback is generally provided via an email reply or a scheduled call. While in many cases this may be sufficient, when there are lots of changes, these methods can be inefficient and result in change requests being lost. The Feedback Centre will provide a centralised place for you to log your feedback. We'll be posting more on this change in the coming weeks and months.
