What is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a visual based platform of social media available on the web, or as an app on smart phones and tablets. It’s generally a place where you can gather inspiration for projects and interest and share what appeals to you from around the web.
You can “pin” these images for you and others to look at later and they direct you back to the original site source, just like a virtual bookmark really. You can also organise pins by “boards” in relation to specific themes or projects.
Who uses Pinterest?
Pinterest’s largest audience comprises of educated females, between 25 and 34 years of age.
Is it suitable for your business?
Pinterest is most suited to visually orientated businesses and those aimed at the audience mentioned above. Think crafts, style, niche and boutique, these works really well on here. It’s also big on the Wedding scene, with future brides gathering pictures a plenty that inspire them for their big day.
Many companies use it to showcase their products in various settings and being used. It’s important to pin your own things as well as others. It’s all about sharing and inspiring. Think outside the box, you've pinned the new wedding dress that your business has designed, why not pin a great pair of shoes you've spotted that go perfectly.
